We joined this selling platform in 2012 and it was great at first. We made great sales and it was small business friendly, now they suck They have changed everything so many times that the whole system is screwed up. They recently went to a (paid / commission) subscription which honestly hasn't been much good for us. Our traffic literally comes from our Greensations web reputation and not from opensky. We've only been doing the paid subscription for about 2 months and we were going to wait and see if it grows, but they screwed up big time and we are finished with Opensky.
BACKGROUND: As a very experienced online seller. So I am used to scheduling monthly payments to online services from (web hosting and online faxing) to (Amazon and eBay). Over the years it's inevitable that one of your business credit cards will eventually expire or you might have gotten a new card and forgot to add it to your recurring payment account. This has happened to us over the years with companies like Amazon, eBay, Volusion, Bonanza...you name it. Every time this has happened, our service providers would send warnings and even call us if necessary. None of them ever stopped service - even one time when we failed to pay web-hosting for 2 months by mistake on one of our websites. We forgot to change the card and they finally called us because nobody was checking the proper email inbox. These companies always took care of us and knew we were great customers for years and s they knew something was wrong if our payment didn't work. That's smart customer service.
Now for the Opensky part. We recently had to change a credit card that was compromised and had updated our card with all online service provides or so I thought. We forgot to do it with Opensky and the next thing you know - we get an email saying our store was deactivated for failure of payment and we would have to start a new description. These guys called us relentlessly for 2 months to beg us to switch to their paid subscription, and after being a faithful customer for 5 years - they deactivate our store immediately.
I'm sure it was probably an automated mistake in their system, but it proves nobody thought of the small business seller and problems with updating payment sources for recurring charges. It just proves Opensky doesn't have their shit together and they're never going to make. They've run through millions of venture capital and cannot turn a profit, but the reason has nothing to with money. It's actually simple....They don't care about their sellers and that's the backbone of any third party selling platform. If your sellers are happy, it means they are making money and that's how third party platforms make their money. Amazon may tell you the buyers come first, but they also treat us sellers like gold as well. We've always had a great experience with eBay to and even the Groupon platform, but Opensky is crap for small biz. Luckily our Opensky shop was tiny compared to our Amazon and eBay sales...so we are just leaving the Opensky shop deactivated for good. They had something good and corporate constipation fucked it all up!
